Anett Fritsch will star as the Countess Almaviva in a lively production of Mozart’s Le nozze di FigaroNovember 7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19 & 20 at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. She appears alongside Gyula Orendt as Count Almaviva, Mojca Erdmann and Elena Copons alternate as Susanna, Kyle Ketelsen sings Figaro, and Anna Bonitatibus and Gemma Coma-Alabert star as Cherubino on alternate dates. Conductor Joseph Pons leads from the pit for these performances.

The Countess is a signature role for Ms. Fritsch, whose recent portrayal at the Salzburg Festival was bestowed with critical acclaim.

Salieri’s ‘Falstaff’ at the Theater an der Wien

Anett Fritsch sings Alice Ford in Salieri’s rarely-performed comic opera Falstaff, this autumn at the Theater an der Wien, October 14, 16, 19, 21 & 23. René Jacobs leads the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin for these performances, which feature stage direction by Torsten Fischer and sets and costumes designed by Herbert Schäfer and Vasilis Triantafilopoulos. Christoph Pohl sings the title role, with Maxim Mironov as Mr. Ford, Alex Penda as Mrs. Slender, and Arttu Kataja as Mr. Slender.

Ms. Fritsch previously performed the role to great acclaim at last year’s Festival, which is also captured on an expertly praised DVD release from Euro Arts. Luca Pisaroni returns as Count Almaviva, Anna Prohaska is Susanna, Adam Plachetka stars in the title role, and Margarita Gritskova is Cherubino.
